Cannabidiol or CBD; is a compound (cannabinoid) that has a wide range of benefits. Unlike the most common cannabinoid THC; CBD does not make people feel “stoned” and actually enhances some beneficial effects while reducing the euphoric high.

Chemically CBD is CBD, regardless of the source. The primary difference between hemp and marijuana derived CBD products is that when sourced from marijuana CBD typically (but not always) contains greater quantities of terpenes and other cannabinoids and and more than 400 trace compounds. Our CBD is derived from hemp.

CBD is “non-psychotropic” meaning it does not have potential to get you high. Infact, CBD is known to reduce the ‘high’ caused by marijuanas other main chemical THC.

There are currently no legal restrictions on CBD products produced from hemp,

CBD is considered a health supplement by the FDA; meaning it is not yet classified or scheduled as a drug.

Because the FDA considers hemp-derived cannabinoids (like CBD) to be food-based products (so long as they are free from THC), there are no restrictions on their use in the United States or most of the industrialized world.

The United States Department of Health and Human Services has held patent 6,630,507 titled ‘Cannabinoids as Antioxidants and Neuroprotectants.’ since 2001.

In this patent, the claim is made that:

Cannabinoids have been found to have antioxidant properties, unrelated to NMDA receptor antagonism. This new found property makes cannabinoids useful in the treatment and prophylaxis of wide variety of oxidation associated diseases, such as ischemic, age-related, inflammatory and autoimmune diseases. The cannabinoids are found to have particular application as neuroprotectants, for example in limiting neurological damage following ischemic insults, such as stroke and trauma, or in the treatment of neurodegenerative diseases, such as Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease and HIV dementia.

Cannabidiol has been studied as an antiepileptic (Carlini et al., J. Clin. Pharmacol. 21:417S-427S, 1981; Karler et al., J. Clin. Pharmacol. 21:437S-448S, 1981, Consroe et al., J. Clin Phannacol. 21:428S-436S, 1981).

Nonpsychoactive cannabinoids, such as cannabidiol, are particularly advantageous to use because they avoid toxicity that is encountered with psychoactive cannabinoids at high doses useful in the method of the present invention.

CBD products do not require that you register with your state’s medical program so long as the products do not contain THC.

If you would like products with THC, you will need to obtain them from a medical marijuana dispensary, which will require a medical card.

It is important to understand that CBD and other compounds work together to produce greater therapeutic effects than any of the substances on their own.

• Safe Extraction: Look for products that are produced with a safe method of extraction like supercritical CO2, Steam distillation, Vegetable glycerin, or Alcohol.

While there is no standardized recommended dosage, patients have reported experiencing desired effects with doses ranging from 5 mg to 1000 mg and more.

Some patients report a sense of well being and relief soon after their first dose, others report that the effects become much more pronounced after several days or weeks of regular consistent doses. We tend to believe that this will vary based upon each patient’s unique body chemistry, ailment, lifestyle, and expectations.

CBD is subtle, its effects are less dramatic than that of THC, prescription narcotics, alcohol, or benzodiazepines.
